How Our Spam and Anti-virus Filtering Works

Any email to your email address passes through our spam firewalls. We do multiple checks including:

IP address blacklists
known list of spammer emailaddresses
forged or fake message headers
keyword content: we use heuristics to check through the words in the email and identify the probability of it being spam
Using an hourly updated antivirus engine (using Symantec or Mcfee), we scan the email attachments to ensure its not a virus or worm, and if it is, we remove it

If the email passes all the above checks (as well as some other ones) then its let through into your mailbox.

You don't need to install any software on your computer - its completely automatic and done before it hits your mailbox.
